JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Network Engineer will define, plan, and implement agreed LAN, WAN, Security, Video and Voice solutions for multiple projects and customers in the maritime industry. The Engineer will predominantly work onboard ships and will be subject to extensive travel requirements, including international travel.
Additionally, the position may provide 3rd level technical support for wireless and network solutions.
The position requires the Engineer to have and maintain senior level technical skills as described to deliver high quality services under the most general supervision.
Extensive travel is required for this position, including international travel.
Goals
•Understand and follow corporate and product specific standards, and identify and escalate customer's non-standard requests for internal decisions.
•Create and maintain project deliverables that reflect high quality.
•Present technical concepts and details concerning network solutions for LAN, WLAN, Security, Video and Voice to non-technical audiences using understandable terms and diagrams.
•Recommend appropriate solutions to the customer and sales team that solve the business problem/need.
•Define, plan, and implement agreed LAN, WLAN, Security, Video and Voice solutions for multiple projects and customers on cruise ships.
•Use exceptional communication skills to keep project manager(s) and LHIND management informed of status and issues, and to provide accurate and comprehensive written documentation and other project communications.
•Apply flexibility, initiative and know-how to support the overall project success.
•Professionally represent Lufthansa Industry Solutions.
Independently perform the following tasks:
•Provide overall pre-sales support to sales team for preparation of proposals, pricing indications and other deliverables as related to the networking topics.
•Develop and lead presentations to sales team, project team, and customer to facilitate project decisions and in support of pre-sales activities.
•Answer customer and sales team inquires related to networking solutions.
•Conduct site surveys on board cruise ships and prepare required survey deliverables.
•Formulate alternative LAN, WLAN, Security, Video and Voice solutions considering internal and customer's standards that solve the business problem/need, and present advantages/disadvantages of each. Lead technical decision making process to select best alternative.
•Design the selected network solution - size varies up to full campus.
•Document requirements; prepare and maintain technical diagrams, documentation, and training manuals.
•In collaboration with the project manager, plan the tasks, time, and resources required to implement the network solution.
•Develop risk plan for network portion of projects; implement risk mitigation strategies when required.
•Execute the implementation tasks - implement and/or oversee the implementation of the network solution through the setup, configuration and management of network topologies in the projects.
•Provide quality assurance of company's deliverables related to the network.
•Provide functional supervision to internal colleagues and 3rd parties for the scheduling and performing of network upgrades and repairs.
•Troubleshoot and provide 3rd level support (or oversight thereof) for network issues in cooperation with the network vendor during the project and rollout/delivery time.
•Functionally report through, and receive direction within a matrix style organization
•Represent company in a professional manner and prepare accurate project documentation.
•Use exceptional communication skills to help ensure timely and accurate internal, external, and customer communications.
•Other duties as needed and assigned
•Travel may be required, including international travel - 75%.
*Additional working hours above 40 and/or on normal "off hours" may be required due to working as part of a global team, and during peak workloads.
Experience:
Experience working with multiple cultures / internationally is highly desired
•Minimum 5 years, 7+years desired, in the design, planning and implementation of LAN, WLAN, Security, Voice, Video campus networks in a cruise ship environment.
•In-depth knowledge of advanced internetworking theory and design principles is required.

•Cisco ACS, Radius, ACACS is a plus
•Cisco Call Manager experience is a plus
•Configuration of RiverbedWAN Optimization products
•Advanced IP Addressing and Routing; Configuration of secure routing solutions; Troubleshoot and optimize network and evaluate proposed changes
•Cisco Nexus Switch, Cisco Nexus Fabric Extenders, Cisco Nexus Series Switches, Cisco UCS
•Cisco wireless Access Points, Cisco wireless LAN controllers, mobility services, Cisco wireless phones,
•Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software, Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
•Cisco Spectrum Expert, Wireshark, Riverbed.
•Experience configuring and managing Firewall infrastructure in an enterprise environment
•Cisco Call Manager installation, upgrade, maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration is a plus.
•Creating /maintaining technical documentation and training manuals.

•Configure HP/Aruba Airwave
•Configure HP/Aruba ClearPath
•802.1AC Implementation

Industry Knowledge:
•Network experience on cruise ships is required for this position.
