Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering team creates compute and storage server designs for Amazon’s web services. Within the Hardware Engineering team we design the Specialized Hardware used for high memory applications, cryptography, archival storage, and other specialized workloads. Our program managers and engineers work with leading edge technologies, solve challenging problems, influence the industry’s roadmaps, and develop new and unique solutions that are ahead of the pack. The ideal TPM candidate will be an experienced program manager who is skilled in managing hardware product development teams across several geographic regions using a variety of suppliers. Having a track record of successful hardware launches for data center products is critical for this role. The successful candidate will be an innovative self-starter and leader. The candidate will be familiar with the cloud computing industry and AWS offerings and will be passionate about providing the best possible customer experience at the best cost. The candidate will have an obsession with data and precise analysis and will use these as inputs to make decisions.

Key job responsibilities

As a member of the Hardware Engineering team you will be responsible for leading hardware product development programs and operational reviews in a highly cross-functional environment which includes internal customers, external vendors and technology partners. You’ll provide leadership in the application of new technologies to large scale server deployments in a continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience at a world-class cost point. You will work closely with your customers to understand their short and long term business goals and product needs. You will be responsible for the delivery of platforms through driving and coordinating the efforts of an interdisciplinary team across hardware design, component development, firmware, test, and qualification, along with external suppliers and design partners to develop, deploy at scale, and provide ongoing operational support for the servers you deliver.

About the team

Our team within AWS Hardware Engineering is responsible for delivering hardware as a service to our internal customers. We own all aspects of design, from concept to design to launch and then throughout the entire life of the product for our product lines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
• 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
• 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
• 3+ years of hardware development experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
• Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
• Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
• Experience in working with overseas CM/OEM/ODM vendors in product development
• Strong knowledge of compute or storage server architecture and design for large scale applications
• Experience with server technologies such as: power optimization, board design, thermal, mechanical, BIOS, BMC, signal integrity, networking
• Experienced in gathering system requirements and working with support teams to aid in the creation of server specifications
• Comfortable working on multiple programs at once

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position will remain posted until filled.
