R&D Engineer 3, Electrical Design

Job Description:

• Responsible for design engineering of electrical systems.
• Oversees and coordinates work with designated subcontractors.
• Ensures compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, RTOs and ISOs requirements.
• Coordinates the design of electrical systems for microgrids and Data Centers
• Establishes and reviews project requirements, develops project schedules, and coordinates their implementation
• Creates and reviews electrical system design work products
• Performs interdisciplinary review of work products of interfacing disciplines and owner review/acceptance of subcontractor work products
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial power industry with focus on design or systems engineering
• Knowledge of electric power distribution, load following, dynamic Data Center power demand, energy storage.
• Familiar with Grid-Forming Control, Grid-Following Control and EPMS.
• Extensive experience using ETAP to perform Microgrid Power System Analysis, distribution network analysis, load flow, short-circuit, protective relaying and coordination analysis
• Experience with I&C systems for steam generation, steam valves, safety systems and integration of closed-loop SCADA controlled systems applied to turbo-machinery and industrial processes.
• Experience supporting cross-functional teams including diverse engineering disciplines, operations, maintenance, planning, etc.
• Participation with industry standards associations or working groups
• Demonstrated project management skills
